Fear of success is very real for some people and actually keeps them from pursuing their dreams, whether those dreams include a long-term relationships or promotions. This is more than being scared of commitment. Instead, it means that the person in question does not believe she is deserving of good things or she thinks that success means certain unhappiness and isolation. It is important to deal with this issue. If you are afraid of success, you could not only sabotage your job prospects but could also end up depressed, isolated and unhappy.

One of the biggest signs that you have a fear of success is that you do not have goals for the future. Instead, you want to keep under-the-radar, are not pursuing promotions and do not plan on doing anything other than what you are doing right now. Often, this means that you ignore job openings, underachieve at school and at school and do not deal well when you receive praise.

Another sign that you have a fear of success is if you often sabotage everything from job interviews to relationships. If you show up late to an interview or deliberately stand up a date, this could mean fear is at play. Often, folks cling to self-destructive behaviors because they are worried they may end up with the job or with a girlfriend, only for it to all fall apart.

If you are always thinking that the glass is half empty rather than full, than you may have some issues with fear. Often, people who consistently avoid success in their personal and professional lives experience chronic pessimism. They do not try because they think trying is ultimately pointless. Often, overcoming fear involves reversing negativity so that people can see the good both in themselves and in the world around them.

Lastly, if you have a fear of success, it is common for you to denounce any and all of your accomplishments. Thus, if you win an award, you may then attack the organization who gave you the award or dismiss any work you put into a project or activity. People do this because they do not know how to deal with the attention they receive, feel as if they are unworthy of the acclaim or are afraid that people will now expect a lot from them in the future.

Overcoming Fear of Success to Achieve Your Goals

Many people think they are suffering fear of failure when what they really have is fear of success. In fact, I think most are suffering from fear of success masquerading as fear of failure. On what basis do I say this? If I ask my clients or workshop participants to think about being successful and having achieved their goal, then ask them to step into the picture and feel how it will feel, they do not typically report feeling good, most say instead that they feel uncomfortable! They are often hit by massive feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, and tend to report all sorts of negative thoughts coming up such as “I don’t deserve this”; “I’m not good enough”; and so on. This is because they (we) have all sorts of negative associations to being successful. And this is what we want to treat using EFT. Ultimately, unless success – however we define it – makes us feel good, unless we are attracted towards it, why would we want to manifest it in our lives?

Many people, when I question them about their goals, do not really have a totally positive goal at all. What they have is a positive mixed with a negative. The negative is what they believe will come along with the success or that would be required in order for success to happen for them – and in their mind both the positive and the negative are linked together so you can’t have one without the other.

For example I recently spoke with a gentleman who said that if he were to become successful he would lose his marriage! Well if that were truly the case why on earth would he choose to become successful? I counseled him to look at creating a new version of success where he stayed in his marriage (since he really wanted to), as his current version of success was really failure. Like many people he had trouble seeing a new possibility because in his mind the choice was represented as an “either-or” conflict where one side had to win and the other therefore must lose; rather than a “yes, and…” where both sides can win.

Ultimately, if you have not achieved your goals then at some level you probably have similarly confused emotional and energetic connections. Seeking to create alignment so that all parts of us are pulling in the same direction has been a major part of my work with EFT in the area of peak performance. I’d like to outline here for you some ways of going about treating these blocks and barriers so that you can ultimately go for your goals without feeling blocked or feeling like part of you is holding back.

One way to begin when treating blocks like this with EFT is to think about what would be the inevitable consequences of being successful for you – both positive and negative – and then to treat yourself using EFT for both sides of this conflict.

It’s not trendy to acknowledge the negatives that might eventuate from success. We’re supposed to assume that all change will be positive. But unless we can prepare ourselves for a realistic picture of success we will push it away from ourselves. Unless we can be comfortable with success we will sabotage it or be unable to handle it. Witness the many people who win the lottery or inherit money only to squander their newfound wealth, and the many athletes who get to the Olympics then get overawed by the hype and aren’t able to perform.

Actually unless your body-mind can handle success and everything it would bring you will fear it and have part of you acting against allowing it to manifest in your life.

For myself, increased levels of success meant more opportunities to travel and the inevitable conflict with the needs of my family and my desires to be with them. This conflict needed to be resolved otherwise I would always feel divided and guilty whenever I was pursuing one and not the other. I could see myself being very successful on the world stage but miserable without my family.

How to treat such binds? Begin by asking yourself: What do I want? What would success look like to me?

Now consider what positive and negative things you associate to being successful. For example, I have personally had to treat all of the following associations to being successful:

- If I became financially successful I might not be spiritual.

- If I became successful I might lose my family

- If I became successful I might have a lot more pressure on me to perform, as well as a lot more pressure on my time and I might not have time to do what I want to do.

Set about treating yourself for your own negative associations and blocking thoughts related to your own version of success. One way to treat these is by simply inserting the belief statements into the set-up and conducting rounds of EFT whilst focusing on the belief as you tap on each point. For example, “Even though if I become financially successful I will not be spiritual I fully and completely accept myself.”

The next step is to ask yourself where you learned these beliefs. You can then do EFT on those specific events using the “Tell the Story” Technique outlined on Gary Craig’s website. Do this for all the major experiences you can identify where you had an emotional experience that “taught” you those beliefs. Typically after doing this the negative beliefs will loosen their hold.

A very powerful way to treat beliefs where there is conflict between two apparently opposite sides – such as being successful versus being there for the family, or being spiritual versus being financially successful – is to do alternate tapping on each side of the conflict. The main key to this technique is to come up with the two opposite beliefs then do alternative rounds of tapping on each belief. For example, if you held the belief that financial success might lead to your becoming less spiritual, you might do a round or two of tapping on “If I become financially successful I will be less spiritual”. While tapping on this belief statement, focus on all the “reasons” you can think of from your background and experience – and the events which taught you this – to prove how this could be true. Then do some rounds of tapping on the opposite belief “If I become financially successful I will be more spiritual”, again thinking of reasons why this might be true while tapping on each point.

After you have completed separate rounds of tapping on each belief, you can then do some rounds of EFT where you tap on the opposite statements on each alternate tapping point.

For example:

Eyebrow point: “Financial success would make me less spiritual”

Side of eye: “If I were financially successful I could contribute more to worthy causes”

Under eye: “If I were financially successful I might become greedy”

Under nose: “Actually I’d be less greedy because I wouldn’t be worried about money”

And so on…

The idea is not for either side to “win” over the other, it is to bring both sides (the conflicting ideas, or opposite points of view) into the light of your awareness, allowing each to provide its message. As we do the tapping on the emotionally attached material on both sides of the continuum, the emotion attached to those ideas is enabled to move through us, and we reprocess the information through our body-mind. As this happens we tend to gain new perspectives regarding the meaning of those ideas and the past events where we learned them. Ultimately we tend to rise up to a new level of understanding and ultimately, and we are empowered to see or create a new, more empowering definition of success.

Most people who do this simple process of tapping on opposites find – after the initial period of disorientation or confusion – that they are able to come up with a new alternative which is far more empowering than either side of the conflict would provide on its own. Instead of having to resolve the double bind, they are able to break out of it by rising above it.

My experience was to realize that I do need to be there for my family and that I do need to make a difference in the world to be true to my purpose (although ultimately my family comes first). I also realized that being successful with my family supports me in making a bigger difference in the world, and being successful in the world outside my family enhances the me that I bring to my family. Thus, whilst I still travel, there are boundaries around how much travel I will do; I seek to leverage the opportunities I have when I do travel, I am starting to identify ways I can make a difference without having to leave home so often, and sometimes I arrange to take my family with me!

Once you have done some tapping on your conflicts and blocking beliefs associated with being successful, it’s time to focus on manifestation. Manifestation is where you direct your intention to bring your dreams and goals into reality.

I teach my clients a process for manifestation using EFT which I call “Connecting with Success”. This is a simple process of holding your goal in mind whilst tapping on the EFT points, stepping into your success picture in your mind and seeking to access the feelings of success whilst you tap. Feel how it’s going to feel when you are successful. Hold in your mind the intention of connecting with the success feelings and tap on the EFT points as you do so. Doing the EFT tapping whilst holding the positive intention tends to settle down the tension we feel when thinking ourselves into a situation that is outside our current comfort zone.

Most people when first using the “Connecting with Success” technique have trouble connecting with the feelings and images during their first couple of attempts, but progressively they are more easily able to access the success feelings and images. Usually after just a few attempts their imagery becomes quite realistic and they start to feel the feelings as very real. They then start to get very excited – suddenly they realize that there is a chance they can make their goal real. The goal has moved out of the realms of the impossible, to the realms of the probable. And, over time, it becomes more likely, even inevitable.

I believe that in the moment you connect with success, in that moment you are successful. I call that feeling of being totally connected to your goal without any blocking thoughts and feelings “100% YES!”) This is when all parts of you are saying, “yes” to moving forward, and no parts of you are holding back. All of your energy flows towards success and you become a totally attractive force.

I’ve found that in terms of real results even a sliver of the success feeling, even a slight glimpse of what it would really be like to be there “in the picture” can free up incredible amounts of energy and allow you to make huge strides towards realizing your goals. This can be worth more to you than hundreds of meaningless repetitions of affirmations or sessions of visualization which did not include tapping. Tapping, whilst intending, is the difference that really makes a difference.

The Fear of Success How to Overcome It

Is the fear of success real? How could anyone possibly fear such a wonderfully positive thing as success? As strange as it sounds, many people do fear success. This fear holds them back from achieving their goals and dreams. It may sound more reasonable to fear failure, and not to fear success. What is this all about? Here are some reasons people fear success. Think these through and you’ll begin to resolve these issues within yourself.

1. Change Itself Is Scary: it’s easier to maintain status quo and go along unthinkingly. Life is easier when we can live it on auto-pilot. Change brings us into the unknown with its mix of exciting adventure and scary possibilities.

2. People Will Expect You to Succeed Again: there is a new pressure to perform to a level that was not there before. You are aware of people watching and waiting for you to repeat your success.

3. The Bar Has Been Raised on Your Performance Levels: your old habits and processes will not work. You have to change familiar and comfortable ways of being for the new.

4. You Will Get More Attention From People: if you are a private person, or are not used to having an audience, this will take some adjusting.

5. Your Private Life May Suffer: athletes and movie actors who make it big complain that they have privacy no longer and that they must hire security and worry about financial and personal safety issues.

6. You Question If You Can Do It Again: you may wonder if the first victory was a fluke the next time you perform, and if you fail, people will say it was an accident. This puts added pressure on this second performance and takes away the value of the first performance should you fail.

7. Your Time Demands Will Change: you have less time now because maintaining new levels of performance bring new demands on your time, new details you’ve never had.

8. People Expect You to “Be” a Certain Way Now: famous stars in show business are expected to be big tippers or to sign autographs, and if they don’t, are denigrated. People have a set of expectations about how you should behave in your new position.

9. It’s Harder to Stay at the Top Than to Get There: it was tough succeeding, but repeating it is usually even harder. It takes more time, more planning and with your new distractions and obligations, keeping focus is even more demanding.

10. You Make Enemies When You Perform Higher Than Them: you may leave former peers behind, symbolically and literally, when you raise the bar. Many people may be happy for your success and others feel slighted and envious.

11. Being a Success Can Limit You: when an actor hits it big in a role, they are forever remembered as that character-and if they don’t manage their career well, they will become type-cast. When you do a great job on a project, you might be known as “the one” to do this job for eternity because you are “so good” at it.

12. Being a Success Changes Your Self-Image: perhaps you’ve always wondered if you could succeed at something. You may not have felt worthy of this success. People may have told you, covertly or overtly, that you don’t deserve success. You at least know your place as one who is average. When you succeed, people will look to you for advice, leadership, as being a model of virtue and you will forever change how you see yourself.

Soy Estrogen – 5 Easy Ways to Get This Natural Estrogen Replacement

You know the many benefits of soy estrogen, you are trying to incorporate this natural estrogen replacement into your diet, and you’re looking for easy ways to do it. Read on, my friends!

By eating 50-100 mg of isoflavones (the plant estrogen found in soy products) a day, you can reduce your hot flashes and night sweats, help stop your PMS symptoms, and start to have healthier skin, hair, and nails.

So, here are five easy ways to get your three daily servings of soy.

1. Soy Milk
It’s time to rejoice, ladies! Getting your daily soy intake is a great excuse for drinking a lovely, cold glass of chocolate soy milk– full of that great soy milk estrogen! If you don’t like chocolate (Do people like that even exist?), then you can drink the vanilla soy milk or the unsweetened soy milk. I find that the chocolate and vanilla are great on their own, but if you are going to drink the unsweetened soy milk, you might need to give it a boost of flavor. You can do this by making a smoothie.

2. Smoothies
If you’re looking for an easy breakfast or a refreshing snack, smoothies are a great idea. They are easy to make, healthful, and delicious. Get the soy in your smoothie with soy milk or soy protein powder (you can find this at health food stores). I like blending my soy milk and protein powder with frozen strawberries (It makes a great texture!) or frozen bananas. Heck, you could even go crazy and mix it with frozen strawberries AND bananas! I suggest using fresh fruit that you have frozen yourself. Those bags of frozen fruit from the grocery store taste quite fake, but if you are really in a rush, they will do the trick.

3. Edamame
It doesn’t get much easier than this. Just buy these fresh soy beans at the grocery store, pop them in the microwave for a few seconds, sprinkle them with salt, and they are ready to eat. If you’ve never had them before, you may be wondering how to eat them. Don’t eat the shell. The shell is not enjoyable to eat. You put the whole pod in your mouth and use your teeth to scrape out the two or three soy beans inside.

4. Soy Nuts
I didn’t think it could get easier than the edamame, and then– it did! Just look for roasted soy nuts at your grocery store. The instructions for eating these? Take them out of the bag and put them in your mouth.

5. Miso
This simple Japanese soup is tasty, and it has at least a serving of soy in each bowl. You can either make this at home (not so easy), or pick some up at a local Asian restaurant (easy).

Estrogen Levels in Soy-Based Products

The question has been brought to us about the possible dangers of soy-based products relating to the levels of estrogen in them. I personally love this question because it puts so many holes in the way allopathic (traditional) medicine thinks.

In allopathic medicine doctors just look at the symptoms of the disease and treat the body as individual functions (i.e. just treat the one area where the problem is) instead of looking at the whole body.  They also ignore the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the person. Vitalists look at all of these things and help the person cleanse and nourish all parts of the being in order to help the body itself do the healing.

As an herbalist I see each plant as a complex set of chemical checks and balances.  I also see the possible energetic qualities. I look how the whole herb (or combination of whole herbs) affects all parts of the body and not just that specific function inside the specific organ. Generally speaking, the medical community takes the herb apart and looks for the specific chemical that is causing the improvement and then creates an unbalanced drug that can be effective on that specific function, but you end up with a list of possible severe side effects that you wouldn’t find in the whole plant source.

It is important to remember that soy is one of the most genetically modified foods.  You should stay away from anything that is genetically modified.  As long as you make sure your soy products are organic you will be safe because the plant will work how it should. I don’t have a problem with soy-based estrogen formulas to balance out hormone levels if they are sourced from organic soy and if they use the whole plant and not just isolated parts of it.

Estrogen in drug form can be dangerous because it forces the body to use such high levels of the hormone that it causes fluctuations in estrogen production.  These fluctuations can sometimes cause other side effects that can be more uncomfortable and can cause more disease in the body than the original low levels of estrogen did.  In contrast, phytosterols, like those found in plants, are at very low levels.  Because the estrogen in soy-based products is at a low level you sometimes hear about the insignificance of using them as hormone replacement therapy. However, they do help the body even out the levels of hormones over time, which is what you want.

Dr. Christopher created a formula that feeds the whole system and cleanses out any blockages that may be occurring.  Dr. Christopher’s Hormonal Changease formula takes into account many factors that may be causing low estrogen levels. It doesn’t have high amounts of any hormone in it, but if you ask the many people over the years that love the formula they will testify of its effectiveness in balancing out hormone levels over time and thus correcting the initial problem.

As a note, in some instances like breast and cervical cancer, estrogen can make it worse. The idea to stay away from estrogen is good advice for these people.

Obesity linked to lowering male libido

Men who are obese may have a lower libido and a less satisfying sex life, according to new research.

Findings published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reveal that obesity is biologically associated with an unsatisfactory sex life.

Previous investigations had linked extra weight to a lower sperm count and infertility. As part of the new study, scientists from the University of Utah followed 64 men over the course of two years, measuring their weight, body mass index and reproductive hormone levels.

“In our study population, we found that lower testosterone levels and diminished ratings for sexual quality of life were correlated with increased body mass index,” explained Dr. Ahmad Hammoud, study leader.

Furthermore, the researchers found subjects who lost weight via bariatric surgery saw their testosterone levels and sexual satisfaction increase.

The results of the research suggest there is an association between hormonal measures and sexual quality of life that is independent of weight, Hammoud added, explaining that further study should help identify a precise cause-and-effect relationship.

Some people find nutritional supplements help them maintain a healthy libido despite other factors affecting their health.

Libido in Men, Causes of Low Libido in Males, Increase Male Libido

Libido in men simply means men’s capability and interest in sexual activities such as foreplays and sexual intercourse (coitus). Male libido is all about having sexual thoughts and desire to enjoy the sex in various ways. It could be simply getting aroused by seeing naked or topless females or the urge to masturbate or to have some female partner for physical satisfaction through performing several sexual acts. Unfortunately loss of libido is becoming quite common in females and more in males. However, libido loss doesn’t usually happen all of a sudden- it’s not like getting a common cold where a man wakes up one morning and having running nose, there it is. It is generally a gradual but steady process that may take months or years to appear. Though loss of libido in men is difficult to define, Laumann measures it as a lack of interest in sex for several months of the past year.

Frequency of sexual episodes is not the best measurement of proper sexual interest as there could be plenty of circumstances behind decreased, loss or lack of libido in men. But if a man is in a committed relationship and has sex less often than very normal, say about once a week then it is the time to ask him whether he is happy with this and is his sexual partner okay with this?

If an individual is not happy with sexual desire he has, the researchers agree that it is better to grapple with such issues before they simply turn irreversible. To help identifying the early warning signs of altered libido in men, a man should go through the questionnaire mentioned below and should check it out whether true or false:

Fondling and touching sensible organs takes place only in the bedroom.
1) Sexual activities do not give the feelings of arousing and intimacy.

2) It is always the sexual partner who is the instigator to begin any sexual act and then you may get involved.

3) You feel no longer sexual intercourses and foreplays as enjoyable.

4) You feel sex is mechanical and not exciting.

5) A man almost never has sexual thoughts or fantasies about any of your sexual partners.

6) You have had sex once or twice in a month at the most.

7) Naked or topless females or their pictures do not make your male organ to erect anymore

If your remarks are ‘true’ for more than 5 of the above, you may need to pay attention to something called ‘lacking, decreased, reduced libido in men’. This is because; such issues are to be tackled as early as possible before they involve some other complications and may become stubborn to treat.

Fortunately, there are many therapies and techniques that help in correcting libido in men. Such treatments come in the form of consumption of male libido enhancing pills/capsules, topical creams, gels, oils, sprays or even lotions. Some health care providers favour performing some exercises to tackle altered libido in men, especially if it is due to premature ejaculation or weak erection. There are lots of devices that help in increasing the sexual power and to enable a man to last longer on the bed.

Many of us have heard that sea-food excite the human senses or that walnuts and honey are the best aphrodisiac. But do certain types of food affect the human erotic impulse? Can specific food categories be the cause of the increase or decrease of male or female libido? Is there any scientific evidence that suggests some types of foods can help the sex life of today’s individuals, or all these are just a legend that goes back to the ancient times? Although a balanced diet is considered today to be the best aphrodisiac, this article can help you spice up your life and answer some of your questions on the subject of aphrodisiac food materials.

- What is the role our brain plays?

The sexual disposition and activity of a person are directly related with the brain’s activity. Crucial for the transferring of sexual stimulus are considered the neurotransmitters, the chemical substances that transfer messages to and out a person’s brain. These neurotransmitters contribute to one’s good memory and ability to focus, increase the good mood one carries and improve the levels of euphoria, while at the same time they are responsible to release sexual temper.

- The secrets of ancient Greeks:

Ancient Greeks are legendary for the particular focus they portrayed in the dinner preparation, making it resemble to a ritual as they devoted long periods of time to eat. The information we have available show that they used all of the five senses in an effort to create a sensual environment. Moreover, the food served was carefully selected and prepared and they used to grab food with their hands, as they supported that this practice creates a very interesting sensation stimulating also the brain. Additionally, ancient Greeks were firm believers that the food on the table had to be served with the right order and paid special attention to its appearance on the plate. The food smells and appearances were considered important stimulators for the functions of a healthy brain.

- Vitamin E, the “love” vitamin:

As scientists and ancient civilizations have found, vitamin E is one of the most important vitamins one should consume daily. Since vitamin E protects the blood cells and directly affects the sexual activity and the fecundity of a person, it is also known as the “fertility vitamin” and is recommended by physicians to treat the reproductive organs’ malfunctions of males worldwide. Nuts, olive oil and avocado are great resources of vitamin E, and one should consume approximately 15 mg a day of these types of food.

Indeed, as contemporary researchers indicate, the consumption of certain food categories is related to the activities of the human organism. Dieticians specifically state that people wanting to have a balanced sex life have to include these special types of foods in their diet. As experts agree, exercising often and maintaining a balanced diet are the secrets to reduce stress and enjoy a better and healthier sex life.
